Some of you may portray me as a ps3 "fanboy" but in actuality if being concerned about getting qaulity products and my moneys worth for them and telling people my thoughts on it is considered being a fanboy then i guess i am... Now that thats out of the way, some of my friends who have the xbox 360 (the very few left that i havent got to trade in there xbox 360 for a ps3) are always complaining about the ps3's price. Lets just brake down the FULL cost of the ps3 vs. 360.
Price vs. Features
1) The 80 gig ps3 is 399$ us dollars and is sonys lower end model now. The 360 arcade wich is hard driveless for 199$ usd and is microsofts lower end model. So far your thinking ok the 360 is 200$ cheaper but you get what you pay for, out the box the ps3 has 80 gig of storage as where the xbox arcade has none. To get that much storage for your arcade model you would need to purchase a hard drive which microsoft made it harder for you as you have to buy a specific one for the xbox (where as the ps3 you can buy any 2.5" lap top hard drive 5400rpm sata which a 250 gig one of them is round 80$) which can cost you 100$ usd for a xbox specific 20 gig hardrive. Thats 60 less gigs for 100$ EXTRA.

2) The ps3 has built in wifi and the arcade doesnt. To get wifi for your arcade 360 you will need to buy an adapter which will cost you around 50$ usd.
-
3) The ps3 has a free online service right out the box, the 360 charges 50$ a year. I will say in the xbox's defense that they DID have a better online service so the cost may have been slightly justifiable but now the psn is equal to the xbl when i compare the 2 at friends houses.
-
4) The ps3's controller does not require batteries as it is charged via usb cable from the ps3. The 360 controllers require you to buy and replace the batteries. (Obviously costly over a few years and annoying)
-
5) This one isnt really an extra cost but a strong argument by 360 users to not get a ps3 was a weak line up of games. Now again early in the ps3's life they were lacking games now it is starting to be totally opposite. The ps3 has had exclusives such as Resistance 1 and 2, Uncharted, Metal Gear Solid 4, Little Big Planet, Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, Killzone 2, and with upcoming exclusives such as Infamous, Heavy Rain, God of War 3, MAG, Uncharted 2, and Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time coming up this year there is no comparison.

6) Last but certainly not least, ps3 is a BLU-RAY PLAYER right out of the box!! Blu-ray players even now go for at the least 150$, so if you want cutting edge movie experience in your home you will get one. Trust me, i have a 50 inch 1080p high def t.v. and there is a noticeable difference between an up-scaled dvd and a blu-ray. When my friends want to watch a movie we dont go to one of our friends houses with a 360 and watch it on a dvd we go and watch it on blu-ray.
Breakdown
PS3: 399$-80 gig, built in wifi, free on-line service, no batteries for controller, and a blu-ray player.
-
Xbox 360 arcade: 199$ 20 gig for 100$ extra, 50$ a year for online, $$$ a year for batteries, and 150$ if you wish to get a blu-ray player.

So if you add it all up to get the arcade xbox 360 up to par with the ps3 it will cost you 500$!! Not assuming you keep your xbox on live subscription for atleast 3 years which would be 100$ more!! so even if you dont want blu-ray then keeping your on line for the 360 for 3 years will cost you just as much!! Not to mention i have had my PS3 for almost 2 years and have never had a problem with it, ALL of my friends who have the 360 have sent it back for red ring of death, disc scratching, disc read errors etc, atleast once most of them atleast 3 times!! It may be free to get it repaired but it takes weeks to get it back, what are you going to play while you wait..... a PS3!!!
